Peter Macey – Chairman and CEO
Peter is the founder of AARC and has been responsible for the successful development of the company.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Geology and Chemistry) and a Masters of Science in Environmental Management and is an accredited professional geoscientist and environmental auditor.
Peter has more than 20 years experience in servicing major infrastructure and mining clients. He is responsible for developing new business for the company in Australia, Asia and China and internationally.
AUSTRALIA
Andrew Pearce – Operations Manager
Andrew Pearce is the Operations Manager for AARC’s Australian Group and is based in Brisbane.
Andrew has over thirteen years experience in the environmental management of the mining industry. His skills are diverse, but his particular focus has been on rehabilitation and vegetation management together with environmental training and auditing. This has involved the planning, implementation and monitoring of weed management strategies for a diversity of Projects. Andrew holds a Certificate 4 in Workplace Training and Assessment.
Andrew has held senior environmental management positions at various mine sites throughout Queensland. These have included the Blair Athol Coal Project and the Mount Isa Mines copper, lead, zinc and silver operations
Andrew’s role in any team would include:
- Providing extensive technical skills and experience in all facets of any project;
- Making contributions to, and final review of all Project deliverables.
Rodger Bonney – General Manager Mine Planning and Development
Rodger has over 20 years experience in engineering, senior mine site management and construction management positions on mining and major civil projects both within Australia and around the South East Asian region. Rodger is responsible for the management of the mine planning and development services group and for the co-ordination of the network of experienced consultants that form the AARC Independent Consultants Group. The Mine Planning and Development group includes AARC Green House Gas consultant’s services group.
Holding a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and a Graduate diploma in Technology management, Rodger’s extensive experience both within the mining and minerals processing sector and the South East Asian region area, brings to AARC an ability to focus on the sustainable development of mining projects with a particular emphasis on the integration of environmental considerations into the overall mine site development and construction processes.
Don Norton – Manager Communications and Crisis Management
Don is responsible for the communications and crisis management group. He has worked in corporate communications for the last 30 years for a number of Australia’s leading companies including BP Australia, Woodside Petroleum and BHP Petroleum.
He assisted in the development of the crisis response program for BHP Petroleum and was one of the two managers responsible for coordination of BHP’s response to the Iron Baron incident in Northern Tasmania and was part of a small team that managed the strategic communication surrounding the OK Tedi issue in Papua New Guinea.
In 1996 Don established his own management consultancy and since then has provided advice on a wide range of communications and crisis management issues to a range of international and national companies. These have included Sodexho, for whom he developed and managed a crisis management capability to cover the company’s important activities during the Sydney Olympics.
Paul Raftery – Associate
Paul Raftery is an economist with post graduate qualifications in finance, banking and accounting. Paul has over 20 years experience across the resources and energy sector. He has worked in corporate, downstream and upstream areas of the energy sector (oil, gas, power and coal) and covered gold and base metals sectors. Prior to establishing Parm Capital Services he was Executive Manager – Finance and Investment with Thiess and has previously been Treasurer of Shell Coal International and Anglo Coal Australia.
Paul is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Finance and Treasury Association, the Australasian Institute of Banking and Finance and is an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management. He has previously been president of the Finance and Treasury Association, a director of Shell Coal Finance, Anglo Coal Finance (Australia) and Shell Coal (Ackland). Paul is currently Chair of the Audit Board of the Gold Coast City Council and of the Board of Nudgee Junior College (Indooroopilly). He holds long term consultancies with Monto Minerals, Freedom Fuels and AARC.
Paul commenced his career in merchant banking. He has extensive experience in the preparation and analysis of project feasibility studies, credit ratings and has negotiated financing packages for a number of major projects including Millmerran Power and the long-term financing of Anglo Coal’s acquisition of Shell Coal. He also has extensive experience in negotiation, preparation of business plans and information memoranda in significant projects, specifically in the negotiation of debt and equity facilities and in the management of joint ventures in upstream oil & gas and coal.
Trevor Hannigan – Independent Consultant
Trevor holds a Bachelor of Science (mining Engineering), a Metalliferous Mine Survey Certificate and a Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency for New South Wales and Queensland. He has more than 40 years experience in almost all aspects of the mineral industry with particular emphasis on base metal and gold deposits.
He had direct experience in tenure management, exploration and technical services required to support the development of a Queensland coal deposit.
CHINA
Michael Wadley - Associate
Michael is responsible for managing the AARC activities in China. He practiced law in Queensland for 18 years whilst developing a client base in south-east Asia. He moved to Shanghai in late 2001 to head up one of the few Australian foreign licensed law firms in China. In late 2003, he took over the staff and clients and established his own corporate/business legal advisory group with consultancy and referral positions within prominent legal firms in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
His staff are both foreigners and local Chinese and the lawyers have international qualifications and/or experience. Our Beijing office works with some of China's most experienced foreign and Chinese resource lawyers and we are the local and foreign counsel for the key Chinese Mining Industry Association.
