The Mineral and Energy Resources (Financial Provisioning) Bill 2018, reintroduced to Parliament on 15 February 2018, seeks to establish a new financial assurance system for resources projects in Queensland. In addition, stronger regulation of progressive rehabilitation milestones is proposed with increased consultation / public input to final land uses of rehabilitated land in Queensland. All mining projects, existing and proposed, are likely to be impacted. AARC is working with our existing clients to understand the impacts of the Bill and prepare to for the commencement of new legislation (expected late 2018). For further information please call Gareth on 0732178772.
